St. Petersburg Times Condemns Religious Diversity
by John Ubele
‘Florida’s Best Selling Newspaper’ is at it again going far beyond the scope of fair and balanced journalism. I wasn’t going to write about the paper’s recent series on Scientology, but now I feel compelled given their recent editorial attack on the religion.
In a perfect world newspapers and media outlets are supposed to be unbiased on subjects they report on. Of course we all realize that we live in an imperfect world full of many imperfect people.
Unfortunately the people who own and work in America’s mass media are the furthest from being perfect. In many cases these individuals are hateful in their journalism, this hate can be seen by the way they write their news and editorials.
The following is a little hate filled manipulative snippet from today’s article titled, “Scientology investigation overdue”:
“…The Church of Scientology trumpets its global reach and expansions in communities large and small across America. Its presence can be disruptive, as Clearwater has learned since the church secretly moved in and established its spiritual headquarters in the city more than 25 years ago. Government cannot afford to be complacent, and those politicians and community leaders who have normalized relations with Scientology can no longer claim ignorance about the nature of the church and the treatment of its workers…”
The St. Petersburg Times doesn’t care about workers whether they work for the church of Scientology or anywhere else. If the paper did care they would start writing articles exposing how governments at every level are working against the American people. Instead though the paper writes these hate filled diversionary articles about the Scientologists and calling for the government to come in and investigate them.
Personally I would like to see the government go in and bust up all the media outlets, our county would be far better off if our politicians would do that but it won’t happen any time soon because the media has too much power over them. Fortunately the increasing influence of blogs is helping to diminish the mass media’s power over our elected leaders, so there is hope that someday we’ll have an honest media in this country.

Thank you for your comment.
What would be the icing on the cake is if the paper goes bankrupt and then the Scientologists buy it.

Wow, you mean there are actually people out there that still read that rag? Personally, when I can find some, I use it for wrapping garbage that too toxic to place in anything else. Also, crumpled up into wads, it makes a great backing for patching holes in walls. I have also used it as drop cloths when painting, and it’s great kindling for starting a fire. Aside from that I really haven’t found any other good uses for it. (:-) Reading it certainly serves no purpose what so ever.

I read recently that the SP Times is on the verge of bankruptcy. Hooray! Hopefully, they will follow the path of the Clearwater Sun (Darkness) who waged a scurrilous war on Scientology for several years until they closed down.
