Life isn’t Fair!
‘Life isn’t fair’, heard that one a lot as a boy. Usually when I was complaining about so-and-so had something I wanted but did not have. Well there they go again! Those darn pesky Iranians are looking to legitimize the Iranian nuclear program, which by all accounts are indeed used and intended for peaceful purposes, by pointing to Israel’s nuclear weapon arsenal. Somehow they are assuming we live in an equitable world where what’s fair is fair. If Israel can have nuclear weapons, so should every country in the Middle East that gets bullied around by them, right? See our story from last week on Open, Public Top Secrets for more on Israel’s open secret. Well Iran, I got some bad news for you, ‘Life isn’t fair’.
But at a minimum, the same global ‘super powers’, you know those great Democracies of the West, that are demanding sanctions on Iran. Those purveyors and promoters of world peace that are threatening to use force if Iran does not immediately cease its development of a peaceful nuclear program, should say something to our Gallant Little Ally, right? In the name of fairness, for god sake! We all really want everyone to live in an equitable world where what’s fair is fair! I mean that’s only fair, right?
Well, sure sounds reasonable to me. But don’t expect Wolf Blitzer, or anyone for that matter at CNN or Fox News, to spend much if any time reporting this one. None of them want fairness in the Middle East and as long as you are not aware of what really happens in that part of the world, like the treatment of the Palestinians or the nuclear double standards enforced, life is fair to them.
They also know that the dissident voices around the world, angered over the US foreign policy that allows this situation to exist, will not be heard loudly enough. They have the power to decide what is and what is not important. What is and what is not fair. And anything resembling an equitable playing field in the Middle East will not occur as long as Wolf Blitzer and his tribe are telling most of Western civilization what is and is not fair.
Enough ranting from me. Read for yourself. See how far this story goes. Here are the headlines from today’s JTA, or the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the self described “definitive source for American Jewish community news and opinion”. And I am not saying that Wolf and the rest of his tribe do not get the JTA. No, on the contrary. But they can rest assured knowing you DO NOT. So they can have headlines like “Iran will keep nukes as long as Israel does”
When the Democratically elected Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is attributed to saying, “When an illegal regime possesses nuclear weapons, the other countries’ rights for peaceful nuclear energy cannot be denied,” Or when he says “The Zionist regime is a threat to all nations and it wants the region to be free of strong countries,”
But of course, don’t forget the JTA’s disclaimer “Israel is widely believed to possess nuclear weapons but has never admitted to having them.”
Well I guess that’s good enough, right? We can trust the word of Israel. After all, “By way of deception, thou shalt do war.”
