Save the What?!?
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. And I hate that our society has been dumbed down to the point that they motivate people to do something about a serious medical condition by urging women to “Feel Your Boobies”, or “Save the Ta-Ta’s”. It’s not “Boobie Cancer”, and it’s not “Ta-Ta Cancer”. It is breast cancer. Referring to it by anything else is just all around degrading.
It’s degrading to ourselves… are we too prudish, or too childish to refer to breasts by their proper name? By now we (should) have all outgrown the stage where the mention of “breasts” makes us giggle and snicker – especially when talking about them in a medical context.
And, most of all, it is degrading to women – not only the women who are fighting this disease, but to all women. A bumper sticker that says “Save the Ta-Ta’s” implies that it’s not the woman that is important, rather, just her breasts.
Maybe I am being harsh, and picky, and making a mountain out of a mole hill. But, while everything doesn’t have to be super-serious all the time, isn’t this taking it a bit too far? There needs to be a middle road when it comes to raising awareness – something entertaining and lighthearted enough to catch – and keep – people’s attention, while not approaching the subject with a juvenile mindset.
Each year over 200,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer – and white women are more likely to develop the disease than any other race. The good news is, with early detection, we have the highest five year survival rate: 91%. This is why routine screening is vital.
So, ladies, as uncomfortable as it is, suck it up once a year and go get that mammogram. Your life is too important not to.
STOP SUPPORTING PROFESSIONAL SPORTS
In the following video I talk about some reasons to stop supporting professional sports.
Winter in the Sunshine State
Here in Florida, we do things… well, different. And, winter is no exception. Granted, the rest of the country laughs at what we consider “winter”, but, to us it’s serious business. Winter is the season of good hair (not frizzy), open windows, and breaking out the jacket that gets worn only once or twice a year.
The first cold front that comes through, and dips the temperatures below 70 hits most of us with a shock. After a long, sweltering summer (that started back in March) our bodies are not used to this arctic air. The sensation of shivering and not-sweating is something that we have forgotten, and it gives us a shock. Many Floridians don’t want to give up the comfort of shorts and flip-flops quite yet, so we compromise: a hoodie, shorts, and flip-flops – and in extreme cases, socks.
When it gets below 60, we realize that this cold weather isn’t going away. So, we put away the shorts and sandals, and bust out the next step in winter wear: long pants and flannels. By now nobody cares about the money saved by not running the AC, so we crank up the heat.
When it gets below 40, we are dressed for the Snowpocolypse. Everyone is decked out in their wool coats, scarves, gloves, and skully caps – all mismatched, of course. If it gets cold enough at night to leave ice on the windshield in the morning, you will see us out there in our “winter best”, scraping it off with an old CD case.
When it gets below 30, all bets are off, and it’s every man for himself. Everyone pretty much stays inside, bundled up, dreaming for the summer, so we can once again complain that it’s just too damn hot to leave the house.

Oil, Oil, Everywhere
It was a gorgeous day to head out to the Gulf for some fishing. Barely a cloud in the sky and a breeze in the air hinting that fall is coming soon. The water was perfect – calm, flat and glassy. The kind of seas where the ocean floor is perfectly clear as the boat zooms effortlessly across the surface.
Heading towards the mouth of the East River we found the perfect fishing spot. The water rippled with schools of glass minnows, and bubbled as it rushed over the submerged oyster bar. We set anchor and threw some lines in the water.
The slight breeze suddenly stopped, and we noticed a horrendous smell that wasn’t there before. Looking down into the water there was a light coating of oil, covering every inch of water that could be seen.
This is the worst I’ve seen it since the whole oil spill started over a year ago. Since then there have been small patches here and there, but today…. today it was everywhere. Not the thick, tarry goo that you saw on the news, but oil nonetheless.
For over a year this junk has been floating in the water all along the Gulf Coast. It doesn’t take a scientist to know that it’s damaging things. There’s a black band around the roots of all the marsh grass – and there’s no doubt that the oil is being absorbed deeper into the soil every day. What is it doing to the fish, oysters, and crabs that so many fishermen depend on for work? And what about the birds, dolphins, and other sea life?
And, now I hear that the well is leaking again? It was a horrible thing that happened, and it breaks my heart knowing that our beautiful Gulf will never be the same.
MLK and Jackie Ra-Ra-RO
It is truly not often that people like me, you know “angry white man” type people, get an opportunity to reference readily available documentation from the mainstream media to provide factual proof for a position. Sure, we use the media to help explain and justify our position on certain subjects but typically that still requires some conjecture from our readers. So when I read about this one I yelped a ra-ra-RO (remember the Jetson’s dog Astro? get it Jacki-O, Jackie Ra-Ra-RO?).
This story was not exactly buried but it also was not hyper exaggerated and perhaps this post will help exaggerate it at least a little bit. Now warning to our readers, the contents of this post and the inevitable conclusions it should conjure are not politically correct and could expose you to a “racist” label if you share with others. But please do risk that personal fate with us.
The fabrication of a hero, of course I mean a contemporary politically correct non-White hero, the only type officially allowed in contemporary times, is truly a difficult chore. That takes some serious time, some creativity, more than just ‘some’ perpetual media support, and most importantly it requires some dishonesty. Only even more perpetual media support and some HONESTY can nullify the fabricated hero but that too takes some serious time. We won’t see any perpetual media on this one but if you look fast enough you can see some unbridled honesty.
The hero unmaking in question; that of Martin Luther King, with of course a national holiday given under the same name. People like me, you know “angry white man” type people, have highlighted and informed others about the scoundrel nature of the Reverend for decades. Specifically, people like me have attempted to educate others about the information archived in the Federal Governments records about the Reverend. But never before now have we been able to substantiate that information with first-hand testimony. That is until now.
Make no mistake, nobody is saying the former First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, would approve of anything people like me would have to say. Likewise, I assume with extreme confidence that people like me would not approve of anything a First Lady would have to say these days. But we really do not have to share endorsements on this topic. We will just share well documented words.
NPR article, 09-15-2011
One of the most talked-about aspects of the recordings are Kennedy’s comments about civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and his reported sexual exploits.
[John F. Kennedy] told me of a tape that the FBI had of Martin Luther King when he was here for the freedom march. And he said this with no bitterness or anything, how he was calling up all these girls and arranging for a party of men and women, I mean, sort of an orgy in the hotel, and everything…. And I said, ‘But Jack, oh that’s so terrible, I mean, that man, you know, is such a phony then.’
The recordings referenced were just released by the Kennedy family and were originally thought to be locked away for decades to come. But seems like we will not have to wait for our grandchildren’s, grandchildren to see the recordings come to light.
For sure the entire Kennedy family, the controlled media, and all the media mouthpieces will attempt to rationalize the statements. And to be sure, for that reason, it takes some care to not allow those politically correct rationalizations water down the statements. You simply have to think about the statements for yourself.
Worth a close look for sure. There are some very interesting comments about other people including Vice President Lyndon Johnson, a prominent Cardinal within the Catholic Church, and much more. It probably won’t get much better than this until our grandchildren’s, grandchildren see more of what our Government is hiding about this hero.
The Scotsman Publications Ltd.
“I just can’t see a picture of Martin Luther King without thinking, you know, that man’s terrible,” the former first lady said, in a newly-published series of interviews she gave shortly after Mr. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963.She spoke of her shock at hearing that Dr King, the champion of race equality in America, organized “a kind of orgy” in his hotel room during the famous March on Washington, before her own husband’s infidelities came to light.

Black Panther Party Chairman Calling On Supporters To Act Against White Majority
In the following video the chairman of the New Black Panther Party Malik Shabazz is calling on blacks to commit acts of violence against the government and against white people.
With Deception; The CNN Tea Party Republican Debate
My most recent exposure to that spectacle came yesterday, the day after CNN showcased a “Tea Party Republican debate” which produced some kosher-party-line headlines the next day. This debate in Florida reportedly attracted 3.6 million viewers according to the New York Times and that amounts to a significant representation from Boobus-Americanus, more from a demographic than quantitative measure. I am writing now in reaction to some of those headlines as they attempted to slam the Tea Party Godfather.
Apparently CNN produced the debate but it was cosponsored by the Tea Party. I have almost as much cynicism for what the Tea Party became as I do for DE-MOC-RACY in general. I say ‘almost’ because it is not yet completely putrefied but it does seem to be terminally dependent on that seemingly righteous concept of democracy. But that was not always the case and the phrase Tea Party has obvious historical significance that some can certainly appreciate.
Shortly after the last Presidential election, the one that landed Barack Hussein Obama within the Oval Office, I attended a Tea Party rally in Colorado. Call it anthropological curiosity fueled by festered cynicism. After anthropological curiosity also motivated my attendance at a 2008 Presidential campaign rally for the Tea Party Godfather a few months earlier, attendance at the 2009 Tea Party rally seemed like a logical progression for my curiosity.
That is when it became painfully obvious to me that the new grassroots Tea Party movement had been fully and lethally corrupted. That is not to say anything disparaging about the Tea Party advocates but certainly about the systematic organization and inertia behind that movement. The inception of the Tea Party movement, the contemporary reintroduction of it, seemed to have sincere, ideologically pure motivations, representative of dissidents across the country. That representative subsection of the population at one time seemed to have as much left-wing push as it did right-wing push, almost a balanced force but that did not last. On the other hand, the organizers and promoters of the new Tea Party hijacked those American dissidents and with that betrayal garnered more votes for the traditional democracy shell game.
After attending that rally it was abundantly clear to me that the new Tea Party had been bamboozled and deceived right into the arms of the G.O.P or “Grand Old Party”, a.k.a. or the Republican Party. The latest manifestation of that came under the spectacle of CNN’s “Tea Party Republican debate”. Yet I digress once again.
My real point came to me during post-game commentary the next morning. In particular it was the echoing headlines claiming essentially that Ron Paul was booed off the stage. Now to be sure and completely honest, none of these kosher-party-line headlines literally claimed anything beyond the fact that Congressman Paul was booed at the debate. But when it comes to the controlled mass media, it is the repetition of the headline that should be understood.
If you understand anything about how propaganda works you will understand how multiple exposures to the same message can result in an exaggerated interpretation of that message. That is a basic premise behind advertising which is ultimately nothing more than propaganda about products or services. Repeatedly saying someone was booed, and of course the deliberately exaggerated emotional delivery of that message from the kosher-party-line tools, has the effect of artificially planting the impression that these boos were more severe than they actually were. This method has a significant and deliberate impact on the audience and why the kosher-party-line depends on it.
I realize I don’t do anyone any favors making any reference to the Tea Party Godfather from the pages of this website. And I have limited my reference accordingly. But that hopefully will not prevent anyone from researching the topic and watching the debate firsthand. See for yourself how much disapproval the Tea Party Godfather actually got. The entire clamor came from a very small portion of the attendees at the debate. More important is exactly what topic earned the headlines that emerged the next day and ultimately caught my attention.
For that, see the below JTA article entitled Tea Party boos Ron Paul on Palestinians. I do believe that publication has an objective representation of the issue and variables surrounding this topic. It is worth a read.
JTA, September 14, 2011
A reference…to unfair treatment of Palestinians as a cause for terrorist attacks on the United States got the loudest boos at a Republican Tea Party debate.
Paul, who has long advocated for a reduced U.S. profile overseas, countered that “Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda have been explicit — they have been explicit, and they wrote and said that we attacked America because you had bases on our holy land in Saudi Arabia, you do not give Palestinians fair treatment.”
That thesis sure sounds familiar and it is the exact same conclusion every independent thinker should come to when they consider the facts. It is obvious to anyone paying attention to exactly why individuals and groups attack America . There are no secrets only lies when it comes to understanding why it is We the People that will pay!
In retrospect it seems foolish to have ever thought the legitimized movement of any political force in this country could result in anything but what the Tea Party became. That is why we must be forever vigilant and understand that that it is only a minority of the population that will ever have an influence on the direction of this country. Hopefully one day that influence will shift back to the right people.
Samuel Adams
It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds.
W.L.P.
Our task is not to persuade a numerical majority of the American population that we are right but rather to build the numerical minority whose values coincide with ours into a majority of will and determination.

The Online Dating Game
Online dating sucks. Especially for whites looking for other white singles – White Nationalists, or not. White men and women who prefer to only date other white men and women are ostracized in today’s society. Of course we all know this – however, there are still whites out there that refuse to believe it is true. Have them go to any search engine. Search for any of the following terms: Black singles, Asian singles, Latino singles, Hispanic singles…. All of them bring up a plethora of online dating sites specifically for members of said race to meet each other. Now type in “white singles”. It brings up a list of interracial dating sites, a link to the forum on Stormfront, and a website that suspiciously requires you enter personal contact information to receive “more information”.
Of course the majority of modern society doesn’t see anything wrong with this, or detect even the slightest hint of an extremely racist double standard. A black man who wants to only date black women is bravely struggling to carry on the richness of his cultural heritage, as is any Asian wanting to only date other Asians, etc., etc. However, a white woman who only wants to date other white men? Well, she is obviously an ignorant hate monger who is blind to the beauty of other cultures, and is quite the hateful being to only want to date men of her same race. No, really. There are people out there that actually think like that – there are even whites that think like that (I should know, I’m related to one).
Whites who want to date within their race have been horribly stereotyped as racist hatemongers – and nobody is speaking up very loudly about this at all. It’s time for the double standards to end.
London Burning

The riots around London have become my adopted news story of the year. I’ve become emotionally attached, and am suffering withdrawal symptoms when I can’t listen to reports on BBC. My heart goes out to the decent people that are caught in the middle of this senseless destruction.
Riots aren’t anything new. We expect to see them in Middle Eastern countries (recently in Egypt, Lybia, etc). We expect to see them in third world countries. We even expect this kind of thing to happen in the larger urban cities in America. But, England? They’re civilized! They have high tea and wear hats to social occasions! They’re not supposed to riot (unless it’s over soccer)!
As I watch the videos of the destruction and rampaging “youths” I find my silly American view that all Englishmen are prim and proper slowly fading away. These riots show that the hard working English citizens have been outnumbered by the raising rate of immigration, and the lower set of values they bring with them.
I don’t know how long Londoners will be able to keep up the “Keep Calm, Carry On” mentality. What would (will) we do if (when) this kind of thing happens here?
As times get tougher we are going to witness scenes like this all over Europe and the US. “Youths”, fueled on by a lifetime of exposure to violent media, will take out their frustration and angst on what they have been brainwashed to believe is the enemy – law abiding men and women who work hard and support themselves.
I hope that my thoughts on that are wrong, because it could get ugly. But, if this can happen in England –land of Royal Weddings and buttered scones and tea – it can easily happen here.
Co-opting the Overton Window
Sometimes it seems like our community only produces two kinds of people: Those that are totally apathetic to their onrushing extinction and those that constantly froth at the mouth with rage at those who seek to do us harm. Somewhere within that spectrum lies effective action. To take that action we must occasionally co-opt our adversaries tactics.
For many of us, this is easier said than done. Direct action and linear thought are the hallmarks of many of us. Dissembling, obfuscation, and manipulation are distasteful and alien to us and we naturally shy away from them. This is also what makes them such devastatingly effective tactics against us. Refusing to participate in them doesn’t disarm them in any way.
All of which brings us to the concept of the Overton Window, most recently brought to the forefront by Glenn Beck’s book of the same name. In this concept, ideas are classified according to the following hierarchy: unthinkable, radical, acceptable, sensible, popular, and policy. The “window” is the range of ideas that fall within current acceptable public opinion. Those that fall outside the window are resisted. Thus, the goal of every outside group that understands this is to move or expand the window such that their ideas are now in the acceptable range.
Everyone has seen this in their own lives whether they know it or not. If you’ve lived long enough, you are doubtless aware of many, many things that were unthinkable within living memory that are now considered unremarkable or standard procedure today. The harsh language that spews unabated from your TV comes to mind. If you remark on it to the young, you will be rewarded with an eye-roll and informed that “it’s always been that way.” To give the devil his due, they have accomplished a lot in an alarmingly short period of time just by nudging the window a little at a time.
To co-opt the Overton Window for our cause, we must first recognize when it is being used against us and dig in our heels. When an adversary tries to get you to give on your principles “just a little”, hold fast to them. Then do some nudging of your own. For instance, if affirmative action has resulted in certain minority groups being overrepresented in some area, you can suggest that it is no longer needed, or you can gently nudge by suggesting, ever so nicely, that maybe it could be scaled back “just a little”. Object when anti-white racial slurs are used. To be “enlightened” whites, we are supposed to laugh along with the “joke”. It’s not funny. Don’t let them convince you otherwise. Make them uncomfortable. When they bring out the litany of white shortcomings, be prepared with an equally long litany of exceptions. If they persist, accuse them of racism. But most of all, be prepared to to it over and over again. It is not a short-term strategy to be employed once to devastating effect and then discarded as we go back to the status quo. In that direction lies extinction.
It’s a White Thing, You Wouldn’t Understand
We’ve known for a long time that showing pride in white heritage is not acceptable in society. Many whites keep their opinions to themselves – not to follow the bogus PC guidelines, but to save the hassle that comes along with it. It’s a shame, because we have a lot to be proud of.
It seems that other groups are not only allowed to show their pride without fear of backlash, but are encouraged to do so. My co-worker has a variety of shirts with logos that, quite fancily, show his gay pride. Apparently these are acceptable dress for the office, and the boss always comments how she is “so proud” that he has the “courage” to wear them.
How about “It’s a Black Thing, You Wouldn’t Understand” on t-shirts in the 90’s? Images of Malcolm X , the “black power” fist, or “Black is Beautiful”. And Che Guevara on everything from shirts to pocketbooks – sported by people that know nothing about him.
Now, you know as well as I do, if someone walked into their office wearing a shirt that said “White is Beautiful”, or, “It’s a White Thing… You Wouldn’t Understand” all hell would break loose – lawyers would be called, charges of hate crime charges would be filed, and the person wearing the shirt would be out of a job (and probably blacklisted) before they knew it. And never mind what would happen if the shirt had a picture of someone who fought for white rights…
Pride is not a sin – it’s not a feeling of supremacy or hate, and it is most certainly not a bad thing. If people of other races and sexual preference are hailed as “courageous” for displaying their pride, we should be able to express our pride without being labeled “racist”.
Raising the Rent
The other day I was talking to my landlord. Like everyone else, he is having a hard time in this economy. All his credit cards were maxed out and he was late on all of the mortgages for his properties. He had a plan of action. His first step was to call each of his creditors and get an increase on his credit limit. With the extra credit he had access to he planned on upgrading his houses – new siding, fresh sod, and new driveways. None of the houses need these things, but he was going to do it anyways.
How was he going to pay for this extra spending, if he couldn’t pay his bills as it was? He was just going to raise the rent for all of his tenants – significantly higher for his professional tenants who could afford to pay more.
He wasn’t going to put the extra rent money towards paying down his debt; rather, he would use some towards the unnecessary home improvement projects, and some to subsidize the rent of his deadbeat tenants. They are constantly trashing his houses, and barely pay any rent as it is. He won’t evict them for some reason, and even goes as far as to buy them food and clothes.
The story I just told is fictional; yet when you think about it, isn’t it what the government is doing to our country? Raising the debt ceiling, stimulus money, and increased spending on detrimental social programs are not the right ways to get out of debt. Everybody knows you can’t get out of a recession by spending more. No rational person would tolerate their landlord doing this – so, why do we let the government get away with it?

That’s Whack
This morning, my alarm went off too early. I was lying there, half asleep, listening to the talk about Casey Anthony. Every time someone said “jury” my mind thought “jewelry”. Then it hit me. All the years I’ve lived here and haven been the minority in the workplace have taken their toll on me. Sad, but, I am pretty fluent in Ebonics.
At my job it wasn’t only the people with entry level positions speaking in Ebonics. The managers and the “big boss” spoke it, too. It was perfectly acceptable to the company to have customer service representatives who told clients they were “funna” help them, or that they would get back “witchoo”. Over the years Ebonics has worked its way into my brain – luckily not to the point of speaking it.
While I can understand blacks wanting to have a language unique to their culture, I can’t understand why they would want it to be such a grammatically incorrect, dumbed-down version! This “language” is spilling its way over into our culture – thanks to the glorification of gangsta rap and hip hop. There are way too many white teenagers out there, wearing crooked ball caps, pants sagging down below their butt, and wearing horrible amounts of “bling”. They look even more ridiculous when they open their mouths and start speaking in Ebonics… I want to get a vial of holy water and splash it on them for speaking in tongues.
As long as pop culture continues to present Ebonics as a culturally relevant form of speech, we need to remember the beauty of our language. Our children need to know that there is nothing wrong, with speaking properly. The way a person speaks says a lot about their culture… so, why wouldn’t we want to speak intelligently?
TSA Strikes Again

Last week we witnessed another incident by the TSA, where agents subjected an elderly, wheelchair bound woman to an extensive search, which, to her embarrassment, included the removal and inspection of her soiled adult diaper. Now, a recent article claims that the TSA denies they forced the woman to remove her diaper, but instead gave her the option: Take the diaper off, or don’t get on the plane. Another brilliant step in the war against little old ladies and children.
Almost everyone can agree that our airport security is a joke – you don’t even have to have experienced the security in a foreign airport to understand that it is. New procedures are put into effect after a supposed incident occurs, “protecting” fliers from things that happened a few weeks ago. Common sense is eschewed in the name of not being offensive – Grandma and Little Sis’ pay the price for political correctness with their liberty and dignity.
Travelers need to speak up about these practices, and let the TSA and government know that it is not okay to do a pat down on a child – parent present or not – and it is not okay to violate travelers rights. The government is blatantly ignoring the Fourth Amendment. And the worst part? Children see adults accepting this without a fight, and grow up thinking that this type of treatment by the government is normal and acceptable.
Soon, we will have a generation that views this kind of intrusion as, not only acceptable, but as beneficial to society. If things continue, that generation will probably not mind as the government takes bigger and bolder steps towards complete control of their lives. This mindset will strengthen, thanks to the indoctrination received at school, and will prevail when they are the generation in charge.

There Goes the Neighborhood
This weekend the new neighbors moved in. After just a few hours it’s clear that they will add a lot to this neighborhood.
There is nothing like the sounds of expletive filled rap music wafting through the air from the trunk of a $200 car with $5,000 worth of stereo equipment. Then, there is the entertainment of watching someone attempt to move a couch while their pants are falling down around their ankles. And the diversity…. Don’t forget the diversity!
This is the third new tenant this year, the last two being evicted after several incidents involving drugs, robbery, and multiple visits from the police. It isn’t farfetched to imagine these guys going out the same way. Either the landlord has figured out a way to make money off of these deadbeats, or he is just really, really stupid.
Thanks to the Fair Housing Act, a landlord cannot, by law, refuse to rent to tenants based on their race, nationality, or outward appearance. Because of this, the happy rainbow of neighborhood diversity has gotten brighter (or should I say darker) over the years. The rate of petty theft, burglaries, drug offenses, and domestic disturbances has risen right along with it.
This neighborhood isn’t alone in incidents like this – it’s happening everywhere. The “bad” parts of towns are spilling over into the quiet parts. Pretty soon there won’t be any quiet – and more importantly, safe – neighborhoods left. As is the case with too many things these days, the rights of the minority are protected, by law, at the expense of the rights, safety, and well being of the majority.
But, the big question remains: When the tables are turned, and we are the minority, will that same protection be afforded to us?

Welcoming Death?
Two years ago, my friend’s father was diagnosed with bone cancer, and was told he wouldn’t survive through the end of the year. Everyone braced for the inevitable end. Even though they thought the effort would be wasted, they started treatment. Surprisingly, it worked. He began to recover to the point of returning to a relatively normal life.
Then, a few months ago, the doctors told him the disease had progressed too far, making the chemotherapy useless – any further treatment would only cause more pain and suffering. They didn’t want to give up hope just yet, and continued the chemo. Just this week, after too much pain, he stopped the treatment altogether. We all know that his time left is very short now, and we expect his battle to end any day. As painful as it is, we hope that it comes before things get too bad, and that when it does come, it is quick and painless as it can be.
He and his family are grateful for the two years that the chemo gave them. Two more summers for him to watch his grandchildren grow, and two more years of enjoying life to its fullest. It was also two more years for each person to come to their own terms with his coming death. While they will all mourn at his passing, as will I, they will be better prepared for it than had it come out of the blue. They have made the most out of these past two years, and have lived their lives to the fullest.
Death is the part of life that none of us can escape. Perhaps if we all lived life today as if we were dying tomorrow, we could lead a richer, fuller life because of it.
It’s a Depression
In the following video I explain how our country is in a depression and I give a few suggestions on what to do about it.
Schoolyard Tactics
One of the most valuable lessons I learned in life came from Saturday morning cartoons: “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me!” This was a fantastic lesson – a childhood mantra which rings true throughout life. It helped take away the sting of words that were meant to hurt and mock, and reassured us that they were just words that could only hurt if we let them.
Calling people names is a habit that a lot of people never kicked. If you don’t believe me, just turn on any news program or talk show. If you were to believe what the mainstream media is feeding us… er, reporting to us, this country is full of a bunch of radicals, extremists, right-wingers, and racists. I mean, that is the only rational explanation for people disagreeing with the current affairs of the country! (Yes, that is sarcasm!)
It’s not just the media doing this – these names come out in most conversations regarding politics and current affairs. It always happens right around the time that your opponent realizes you have made a darn good point, and they have run out of rational counter-arguments. With nowhere else to go, they revert back to the schoolyard days of being an angry and frustrated kid, and turn to name calling.
Little by little this tactic is losing effect, and all the names they throw – including the “racist” label – are meaningless nowadays. I say keep it up! Their calling me names means that I am doing things right, and driving the name callers to sheer frustration. It doesn’t hurt me, and, actually, it reinforces my beliefs. After all, I know what I am, and what I am not, and that is all that matters!
